Monumento a los sitios de Badajoz ( A monument to the Sieges of Badajoz)

La Iniciativa Ciudadana Baluarte, compuesta por distintas asociaciones y ciudadanos, dentro de

las actuaciones que engloba el Bicentenario de la Guerra de la Independencia en Badajoz, está

intentando realizar un acto de homenaje a todas las personas que se vieron envueltos, de una

u otra manera, en los trágicos y heroicos acontecimientos que sucedieron durante los Sitios de

Badajoz hace 200 años. Todos ellos, independientemente de su nacionalidad, rango o condición social, soldados o

civiles, merecen que sean recordados erigiéndoles un monumento. Un monumento a todos los

que dieron sus vidas en “Los Sitios de Badajoz”. Un monumento en el que todos se sientan

representados. Un homenaje a todos aquellos que vivieron esas fechas tan convulsas y difíciles

pero también un recordatorio a los importantísimos hechos históricos que aquí se

desarrollaron, “Los Sitios de Badajoz” en 1811 y 1812.

The initiative Ciudadana Baluarte, made up of different associations and citizens, within the commemorative acts of the Bicentenary of the Peninsular War in Badajoz, intends to pay homage to all those involved, in one way or another, in the tragic and heroic events which took place during the sieges of Badajoz 200 years ago.

All these people, independent of their nationality, rank or social condition, soldiers or civilians, deserve to be remembered by erecting a monument in their honour. A monument to all those who gave their lives in “The Sieges of Badajoz”. A monument in which all will feel  represented. A homage to all of those who lived in those troubled and difficult times but also a reminder of the highly important historical events which took place here. “The Sieges of Badajoz” in 1811 and 1812.
